In this special methods seminar, Professor Johnston will reflect on his career and use of methods in the corruption space, and pose questions on how we might generate better indicators of the effects (if any) of anti-corruption policies. Critically analysing the limitations of current corruption indices, Professor Johnston will examine a framework for future measurements, including potential problems and abuse and priority areas for benchmarks.

Professor Michael Johnston, of the USA, is an internationally renowned anti-corruption expert, having served as a senior consultant to organisations including the World Bank, United Nations, the US Agency for International Development, and the Organisation of American States. His research has covered corruption and inequality in the developed and developing worlds; democratisation and reform.
